Tom Rossi registered a career .425 batting average during his time at Avery Point, including a .481 mark in the fall of 1980. After Avery Point, he continued his collegiate career in Storrs. He batted .315 in his two seasons with the Huskies before being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 18th round of the 1982 Major League Baseball draft. Rossi played two seasons of professional baseball. He was inducted into the UConn Avery Point Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.
