Hall of Fame
Karen Mullins made a profound impact on the campus communities both at Avery Point and Storrs over a distinguished playing and coaching career. Her origins began at Avery Point, where as a student-athlete, she helped to start the (softball, women’s basketball or both) programs on campus. Mullins continued her athletic and academic careers in Storrs, where she participated in both softball and basketball and set a new career records for batting average and slugging percentage. She embarked on a distinguished coaching career from there, eventually taking over the Huskies’ softball program in 2013 and leading them to 862 wins and eight trips to the NCAA Tournament over 31 seasons as head coach. Mullins was also inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2014. She was a 2003 inductee into the UConn Avery Point Athletic Hall of Fame.
