FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
10 Avery Point Baseball Standouts Named to NJCAA All-New England First Team & 2nd team
Groton, CT — May 27, 2026 — Following a great season where the UConn Avery Point baseball team finished 23-11, 6 players were named to the NJCAA All-New England First Team. These honors recognize the top performers from across the region, and Avery Point's selections reflect the team's powerful offense throughout the 2026 campaign.
The Pointers were led by a core of standout hitters who posted elite numbers across the board:
James Fagnant (Inf)
James Fagnant was named the Division II New England Player of the Year. The transfer from the University of Richmond hit .480 with 14 doubles and 5 homeruns and led the team with 27 stolen bases. Fagnant also saw a few innings on the mound in relief in tight spots.
"The season James had was remarkable," Says head coach and athletic director Travis Beausoleil. "He was dynamic on the bases and his toughness and grit in the batters box made him a tough out every single time he stepped in." Â
Tim Cap (C)
The sophomore committed to UConn Storrs returned for his sophomore season and did not disappoint. Â Cap posted a .400 batting average and a 1.278 OPS, both of which were better than his All-New England season last year. His 11 homeruns led the team and he added 36 RBIs, and even showed off some speed with 7 stolen bases.
"We are going to miss Tim in so many ways, there are few players that generate the power that he has, yet we are excited that he is the next (of many) Pointers turned Huskies" said Beausoleil.
AJ Montejano (C/UTIL)
A catalyst at the top of the order, Montejano led off nearly every game this season. Following an injury to Cap he caught the lion-share of the games, yet his offense did not diminish at all. Following an All-New England freshman campaign where he hit .338, Montejano nearly hit 100 points higher and finished the 2026 season hitting .413. He added 10 doubles and 3 homeruns to his arsenal along with 14 stolen bases.
"AJ is the perfect Avery Point story, receiving limited offers out of high school and no scholarship opportunities. He worked hard for two years, listened to his coaches, worked on his game and now we will be receiving a Division I scholarship," says Coach Beausoleil. "I am proud of him and the work he has put in and would point to his story as to what this Avery Point program can do for a lot of talented ballplayers."
Dan St. George (LHP)
St. George served as a jack of all trades  within the pitching staff., compiling a 3-0 record with a 4.21 ERA across 36.2 innings pitched. He struck out 53 batters while issuing just 11 walks and holding opponents to a .245 batting average. St. George appeared in 14 games with 6 starts and was valuable in both starting and relieving roles.
"You root for a kid like Dan. He works hard, does his job and only wants to help the team win," Says Beausoleil "I wish we had him for an extra year and would love to see him develop even further, but his presence for us on the mound was incredible."
Logan Charboneau (1B)
Charboneau finished the 2026 season with a .316 batting average with 5 doubles and 10 homeruns. The power hitting corner infielder batted in the cleanup spot for most of the season. "Logan has tremendous power. I am excited to see the numbers he will put up next year after a year of experience under his belt." Said Coach Beausoleil
Vinny Hine (SS)
Hine finished with a .372 average and tacked on 4 doubles with 3 homeruns, while playing most of his games at Shortstop.
"Vinny had a strong freshman year, and was a catalyst a Suffering an injury in the second half of the season limited a few of his offensive numbers, but his contributions in the front half of the season was paramount." Said Coach Beausoleil
"We are incredibly proud of these six student-athletes," said Beausoleil. "Their hard work, leadership, and dedication to the program represent the best of what Avery Point Baseball is all about. This recognition is well-deserved and a testament to the culture of excellence we've built."
The NJCAA All-New England selections highlight Avery Point's continued presence as a powerhouse in the region and a nurturing ground for collegiate talent.

"These 10 individuals and a few more that were not named, should be proud as they join a rich history of Avery Point alumni that have been credited with this award."
