GROTON, Conn. — The 2026 Avery Point Athletics Golf Tournament was another tremendous success, bringing together alumni, supporters, and friends of Avery Point Athletics for a day of golf, camaraderie, and giving back.
Held at Shennecossett Golf Course, this year's tournament welcomed 126 golfers, including 56 Avery Point alumni and 10 members of the Avery Point Athletics Hall of Fame. The impressive turnout highlighted the enduring connection generations of student-athletes have with the Avery Point campus and its athletic tradition.
The tournament raised more than $15,000 in support of Avery Point Athletics. Funds generated through the event will directly benefit student-athletes by enhancing athletic programs, providing equipment and travel opportunities, and supporting the continued growth of the department.
"The overwhelming support from our alumni, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners made this year's tournament an incredible success," said Travis Beausoleil, Director of Athletics at UConn Avery Point. "Seeing so many former student-athletes and Hall of Famers reconnect while investing in the future of our current student-athletes is what makes this event so special."
In addition to the competitive golf, participants enjoyed opportunities to reconnect with former teammates and coaches, take part in raffles and contests, and celebrate the rich history of Avery Point Athletics.
Avery Point Athletics extends its sincere appreciation to all of the tournament sponsors, volunteers, donors, and participants whose generosity and dedication made the event possible. Their continued support ensures that future generations of Avery Point student-athletes have the resources and opportunities to succeed both on the field and in the classroom.
Planning is already underway for the 2027 Avery Point Athletics Golf Tournament, and organizers look forward to building on this year's outstanding success.
