Travis Beausoleil

Travis Beausoleil has been named the athletic director at UConn Avery Point. Beausoleil will direct athletics at the only other UConn campus besides Storrs that offers intercollegiate competition, with three varsity sports – men's and women's basketball and baseball.
Beausoleil' s duties will also include overseeing the campus waterfront programs, which provide recreational, instructional, and academic opportunities, and the club sports teams.
Beausoleil, no stranger to UConn Avery Point, began his college career as a baseball student-athlete at UConn Avery Point from 2005-07 before graduating from North Carolina Wesleyan in 2009 with a degree in political science and justice studies. Beausoleil has also completed his course work for a master's degree in political science from UConn.
As a baseball player at Avery Point, Beausoleil was a National Junior College Athletic Association Division II All-American in 2007 and the New England Player of the Year. He was later inducted into the UConn Avery Point Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.
"I would like to thank Campus Director Annemarie Seifert, Associate Campus Director Janene Vandi, and the search committee for choosing me to guide the athletics department at UConn Avery Point," says Beausoleil. "I am excited to return to Avery Point, a campus and an athletics department that gave me so much as a student and athlete and really was the launching pad for my career. Avery Point has always been home for me, and I am thrilled to come back and lead the department to new heights."
Beausoleil came from Mitchell College where he led the Mitchell College baseball team to unprecedented heights. During Beausoleil’s 12 year tenure he led Mitchell to nine New England Collegiate Conference regular season titles and seven tournament championships, including his final 3 seasons in row 2021-2023. His Mariners ranked #1 in New England in winning percentage over his last 10 years and ranked 5th nationally.
Under Beausoleil, the Mariner baseball program achieved many of Mitchell College’s 1st including their 1st ever NCAA Regional win in any sport. Mitchell hosted an NCAA Regional in 2023, the first time in any sport at the school, and Beausoleil played a crucial role in developing Mitchell’s 4.5 million dollar turf complex which is one of the best in New England
Regarded as one of the best young coaches in the country, Beausoleil has been named NECC Coach of the Year in 2015, 19, 21, and 23. He has coached over 20 major leaguers including All-Star and World Series MVP George Springer.
Prior to taking over the reigns at Mitchell College, Beausoleil was an assistant forJim Penders’ staff at UConn Storrs in 2011. The 2011 Huskies were Big East Regular Season champions and defeated Clemson, Coastal Carolina and Sacred Heart in the Clemson Regional before losing to the eventual national champions USC Gamecocks. The 2011 Huskies ranked as high as 9th that season and produced 3 top picks in the June amateur draft including George Springer, Matt Barnes and Nick Ahmed.
Beausoleil has also coached in many of the prestigious collegiate summer leagues including the DC Grays of the Cal Ripken League, the Mystic Schooners in the New England Collegiate Baseball League and the renowned Chatham Anglers in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Coach Beausoleil has also been a member of NCAA Baseball’s National Rules Committee and has been on numerous committee’s throughout the NCAA. He was a member of the NEIBA executive team and has been a presenter and organizer for the World Baseball Coaches Convention held each year at Mohegan Sun Casino.
