Lopresto and Pointers walk off Triton in extras

Game 1 Pointers Walk off on Triton
UConn Avery Point took Wednesday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 4-3 walk-off victory over Triton College Trojans at Lake Myrtle Sports Park. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the eighth when Aaron Lopresto slash singled, scoring the deciding run in extra innings. 

A single by Spann put Triton College Trojans on the board in the top of the first. In the bottom of the second inning, UConn Avery Point went back into the lead after Lopresto singled to left field, Light singled down the right field line, and Petrini hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Triton tied the game in the top of the seventh thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Northern, and a single by Crenshaw.

James Fagnant earned the win in relief. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking none. Holpuch took the loss for Triton College Trojans. The hurler went one-third of an inning, surrendering one run on three hits, striking out none and walking none. Sophomore Captain Albert Savino started the game for Avery Point. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking four. The southpaw surrendered five hits and three runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking three. Ryan Erskine appeared in relief and surrendered 6 hits in 2.1 innings pitched with 5 strikeouts.

Lopresto, Vinny Hine, and Logan Charboneau each collected two hits for AP.


Game 2 Pointers Mercy Bunker Hill
The Pointers completed the sweep of the day with a mercy rule victory against Bunker Hill in the night cap by a final of 16-5.

James Fagnant went 3-4 and drove in 3, while sophomore Camden McPeck scored 3 runs. Dan St. George earned the win going 5 strong innings, surrendering 6 hits and striking out 8

The Pointers conclude their spring trip with a rematch vs Triton College on Thursday March 19th.
