Groton, Conn. — Jan 26, 2026 — The UConn Avery Point Baseball program has announced the addition of Doug Domnarski and Dan Driscoll as assistant baseball coaches, further strengthening the program's commitment to excellence on the field and continued development of student-athletes.
Domnarski returns to Avery Point as a coach after an accomplished playing career that began with the Pioneers. An Avery Point alumnus, Domnarski quickly established himself as one of the most dominant pitchers in program history. As a freshman, he posted an 8–1 record, earned NJCAA Division II All-New England honors, and was named the team's Most Valuable Pitcher. He followed that performance with a 9–1 sophomore season, earning NJCAA First Team All-American recognition, throwing a no-hitter in legendary head coach Roger Bidwell's 1,000th career victory, and helping lead Avery Point to the JUCO College World Series. Domnarski continued his collegiate career at UConn Storrs before being selected in the 27th round of the MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins.
"Doug embodies what Avery Point Baseball stands for," said Travis Beausoleil, head coach & Athletic Director of UConn Avery Point Baseball. "His experience at every level of the game and his deep connection to this program make him an outstanding addition to our staff. He epitomizes what the experience can give you!"
Joining Domnarski is Dan Driscoll, who brings a decorated collegiate pitching career and a strong background in player development. Driscoll compiled a 23–8 career record with a 3.51 ERA, totaling 281 strikeouts in 231.1 innings during his time at Mitchell College and Eastern Connecticut State University. He was part of two conference championship teams and three regional tournament appearances, earning numerous accolades including 2023 D3baseball.com All-American, two All-Region selections, two All-Conference honors, and 2022 NECC Tournament MVP. Driscoll is a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science.
"Dan's competitive mindset, work ethic, and understanding of pitcher development will have an immediate impact on our program," added Beausoleil.
Both assistant coaches will contribute to all aspects of the program, including on-field instruction, player development, recruiting, and game preparation, as Avery Point Baseball continues to build momentum heading into the upcoming season, and the expectation to go to the Division II World Series in Enid, Oklahoma
Domnarski and Driscoll join an already bolstered coaching staff that includes Beausoleil; and assistants Hunter Sheffield, Ken Olszewski and Lucas Beaney
