GROTON, Conn. — UConn Avery Point is proud to celebrate one of its own, Pete Walker, pitching coach for the Toronto Blue Jays, as he reaches the World Series — a milestone that highlights both his individual success and the program's long-standing tradition of developing elite baseball talent.
Walker, a standout pitcher during his time at UConn Avery Point, has built an impressive career both on the mound and in the dugout. After a professional playing career spanning several Major League teams, Walker transitioned to coaching, where his expertise has been instrumental in shaping one of baseball's most dynamic pitching staffs. His leadership, player development acumen, and commitment to excellence have been key factors in the Blue Jays' journey to the Fall Classic.
Walker's achievement marks another proud moment for Avery Point Baseball. He becomes the second Avery Point alumnus to reach the World Series stage, joining Rajai Davis, who represented the Cleveland Indians in the 2016 World Series. Their accomplishments exemplify the powerful foundation that Avery Point provides — a program that prepares student-athletes to compete, succeed, and lead at the highest levels of the game.
