Jared Russo drove in five runs on three hits to lead UConn Avery Point past CCRI 22-7 on Wednesday. Russo hit a home run to left field in the second scoring three, singled in the first scoring one, and singled in the third scoring one.

The Pointers collected 12 hits and CCRI had five in the high-scoring affair.AP got on the board in the top of the first inning after Russo singled, scoring one run, and Martin Light hit a line-drive grand slam to left field.

Eight more runs crossed the plate for the Pointers in the second inning extending the lead to 13-3. Russo homered to left field, scoring three and Tony Sutera hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

James Fagnant hit a solo home run to left field, Russo singled, scoring another run, Joel Tiburcio doubled, scoring two runs and  AJ Montejano singled, scoring another.

Hayden Ferland earned the win for Avery Point. The righty allowed four hits and six runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking two. Albert Savino appeared in relief for Avery Point to close the game
