The UConn Avery Point basketball team fell to Springfield Tech on Thursday 81-80. Depsite leading for nearly the entire game Springfield Tech managed to take the lead with seconds left on the clock.
Sophomore Captain
Sean Christy, drove into the lane and was fouled.
Christy hit both his free throws giving Avery point the lead 80-79 with 6 seconds left to go. However, Springfield Tech in-bounded and took the ball coast to coast for a game leading and ultimate winning layup. The Pointers threw the ball in and hit a halfcourt shot that would have won the game, but the referees had determined time had expired and Springfield narrowly escaped with the win.
Christy led the Pointers with 22 points. Freshmen Nazir Russell added 17 and
Rickeem Sterling chipped in with 15. The Pointers head to Quincy High school and take on Quincy College saturday at 3:00PM before they have a 4-game homestand headed into the Thanksgiving break.
