Prescott Littlefield has over 35 years of experience as a sailing instructor and sailing program manager. He worked at numerous yacht clubs on Long Island Sound and Fishers Island Sound, at the Mystic Seaport Museum, and coached the Williams School Sailing Team prior to coming to the University of Connecticut Avery Point Campus in 2004.
One of the most visible figures on the campus, Littlefield is also an adjunct faculty member at UConn Avery Point, teaching both Kinesiology and UNIV classes on the water. He has been recognized with the Avery Point Excellence in Service Award and was a past nominee for the UConn Unsung Hero Award. Littlefield's efforts in galvanizing the Avery Point community have resulted in record setting numbers for participants, seasonal, and academic year events over the course of the past several years.
Littlefield has played a pivotal role in developing campus partnerships and executing programming with New London Public Schools and the Williams School.
A member of the Executive Committee for the New England Schools Sailing Association, Littlefield remains active on the high school coaching front with the Williams School squad.
His boating experience includes rowing, dinghy sailing, keelboat sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding and power boat operation. He has an undergraduate degree in American and Asian History from Bates College, and a graduate degree in Marine Affairs with a coastal zone management specialization from the University of Rhode Island. He is a United States Sailing Association-certified sailing and powerboat instructor.
